Abstract

Indonesia’s accession process to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is a strategic agenda that affects the country’s economic, political, and governance interests. This study analyses Indonesia’s strategic considerations in the OECD accession process within the framework of the Asta Cita agenda (Prabowo Political platform) under the administration of Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, while identifying the opportunities and challenges associated with the process. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method through document analysis and a literature review of government documents, OECD publications, international reports, and academic journals. Indonesia’s accession to the OECD is viewed as a rational choice consideration, aimed at strengthening economic competitiveness, enhancing investor confidence, facilitating technology transfer, and improving governance. Energy security, the green economy, job creation, infrastructure development, downstream industrialisation, and industrial policies represent potential opportunities, while bureaucratic reform, anti-corruption measures, and public integrity reflect Indonesia’s efforts to align with global standards. The success of the accession process largely depends on the consistency of domestic reforms and the effective management of structural challenges.
